I’m grateful to have creative friends in my life such as Ryan Walters. He is one of the most creative guys I know. He is an entrepreneur, primarily in the business of wedding videography. However, he also does photography and different types of videos outside of weddings such as the video and photo shoot he did for my debut EP “Beyond the Surface.”
We spent the morning in downtown Toronto, in Chinatown and Kensington Market to be exact. These areas both have an urban, gritty street feel with many graffiti walls and rugged buildings. That’s the vibe I was going for with the EP, and Ryan did a fantastic in capturing its essence. Check it out!
For those who don’t know me, I live in the city of Toronto and I am a youth minister at a church in the heart of Mississauga called West Church. We are a community of Christ followers with the purpose and mission to share the love of God to people in our city.
Not only is Hip Hop an outlet for me, it’s also a creative vehicle for me to express my life and faith in a way that glorifies God while relating to people who also love the art form. So my goal with this EP is to create music that inspires people and prompts them to think deeper about life and faith.
Beyond the Surface embraces the expression of Christian faith in the context of an urban environment. Most of the EP was written during my daily commutes to work, the gym, and everything in between.
All that being said, take a listen.
